Youth Oasis Bring Awareness for Youth Suicide Prevention

For the month of September, Youth Oasis will provide awareness and information on the prevention of youth suicide on social media. This month we're also shedding light on sexual health awareness, providing information, and partnering with Planned Parenthood, who’ll provide sex education sessions and brochures to our youth and young adults.

Unfortunately, youth suicide has increased in the last ten years by 70 percent and still is the second leading cause of death for youth. According to Newport Academy, half of LGBTQ+ teens considered suicide last year, and 18 percent made an attempt. This alarming fact has many organizations and care workers around the nation amplifying resources for the prevention of youth suicide. Every voice and support matters for help to turn around this crisis.

Tekoah Boatner, Executive Director of Youth Oasis, knows the importance of why everyone should be aware of resources and advocacy for youth suicide prevention. She states, We must start pouring positive messages of support, restorative correction, and belonging into the youth in our lives. Children and youth should feel safe and wanted in our communities. These are factors that support resilience and can reduce the accumulation of trauma responses that can lead to suicide.

We believe in community support and it takes a village to help youth!  Donations and funding to support Youth Oasis  will be greatly appreciated.
