Safe Place Volunteer Opportunities
They are scared, lost and in need of YOUR help! They are youth in
crisis in your very own neighborhood and community! Here is how you can
make a difference in the life of a youth in crisis!
First Response Volunteers
are those caring and concerned adults who provide immediate assistance
to youth in need of help at a local Safe Place site. Responders
are dispatched by agency staff to respond to the Safe Place site to meet
with a youth, assess the situation and help the youth access necessary
resources.
Trained Responders can also help to conduct educational
presentations to youth, parents, and community professionals. Community
outreach times will vary in time and location.
Volunteer Responders
are asked to
identify times in which they may be available to respond to a Safe Place
site.
First Response Volunteers
must be 21 and must complete the application process, a background check
and 4-hour training.
For training information you may visit the Emergency Shelter at
260 South Acadian, or call 225-343-6300 or email
safeplace@youthoasis.org.
Opportunities for groups and Corporate Volunteers exist. Please
contact us at 225-343-6300 for more information.
